Gill was until March 1999 the chief executive of ProShare (UK) Ltd, where she gained wide-ranging knowledge of the needs and concerns of private investors. She served on the board of the
Financial Service Authority from 1998 to 2004. She now sits on the board of Merrill Lynch British Smaller Companies and LV, the UK's largest friendly society. She is also chairman of Baronsmead VCT Trust and chairs Witan Pacific Investment Trust. Previously she worked for BP where she managed its venture capital portfolio. She thus brings to the board a broad background in investment matters. Gill was appointed to the board on 20 January 2003.
